=============================================================================== VPW64 DELUXE - Changelog & Important Notes Based on: Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 (Freem English Edition) Date: 2026-10-17 =============================================================================== CONTENTS 1. Important note about Edit Mode (please read first!) 2. Changelog 3. What depends on what (for anyone who still wants to change things) 4. Technical info / flashcarts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT EDIT MODE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many wrestlers in this hack use special rules that are NOT visible in Edit Mode. They are built into the game code: custom entrance gear, capes with physics, themes per attire, custom call names and more. These rules are tied to the wrestler ID, to the costume number (1-4), or to specific attire/model numbers. If you change Entrance Attire, Upper Attire (shirts/jackets), Ring Attire or the theme of these wrestlers in Edit Mode, you may: - lose parts of the clothing or see clothing doubled/clipping through (e.g. a shirt showing through the entrance jacket), - get the "wrong" theme or lose a theme, - get entrance gear that does not belong to that wrestler. I can NOT guarantee that modified costumes will work without bugs. Recommendation: do not change Entrance/Upper/Ring Attire or themes of the pre-made wrestlers. Your own Edit wrestlers are fine, as long as you don't combine shirts with entrance jackets (see 3.6). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. CHANGELOG ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BOOT / TITLE / MENUS - Wrestler view in the menu zoomed out a bit. MUSIC / THEMES - More than 60 new entrance themes (in addition to the original themes), cleanly looped, louder and mixed with reverb. - Themes per attire (see 3.2), e.g. Hogan WCW / Hogan NJPW, Sting Crow, Savage WCW, Ric Flair WCW. - Tiger Mask themes: Tiger Mask (all attires) -> original Tiger Mask theme K. Yamazaki, Attire 2 -> Tiger Mask (IV) theme M. Misawa, Attire 3 -> Tiger Mask II theme K. Kanemoto, Attire 3 -> Tiger Mask III theme (without spoken intro) These three attires are also announced with the call name "Tiger Mask". ENTRANCES - Title ceremony (Royal Road), multi-part title entrances. - Streamers during entrances (also for tag teams). - Some wrestlers wear their Upper Attire as entrance gear and take it off for the match (Hase, Takayama, Omori, Johnny Ace, Mike Barton - costumes 1-3). - Scott Steiner (nWo): custom hood/headgear during the entrance, all costumes. - Scott Hall: open vest (Bash at the Beach '96) or Outsiders shirt, depending on the Ring Attire. - Tiger Mask jacket with sleeves/collar; capes for Tiger Mask, Misawa (orange), Kanemoto, Ultimo Dragon (gold) and Eddie (Black Tiger) - with cape physics like Liger's (they swing and hang from the shoulders/back). CHAMPIONSHIP BELTS - Champions wear their title belts during the entrance in every mode (not only in Royal Road). - Up to 3 belts at the same time: around the waist and over both shoulders (defended title first). - Triple Crown (3 belts) and World Tag Team (2 belts) are shown as real multi-part belts during the entrance. - Title win ceremony like in Royal Road (belt/trophy presentation), and the winner's theme keeps playing during the ceremony. REPLAYS - Use the R button during a replay to control the replay speed. - Dynamic replays in tag team matches. - Replays in DomeRoad now behave the same as in all other arenas. ARENAS - New turnbuckle pads (AJPW / NJPW). WRESTLERS / LOOKS - New faces, hair (photo style), chest hair, face paint/accessories, Masks - New/revised attires for, among others: Great Muta, Great Kabuki, Sting (Crow, nWo 1996), Scott Steiner (nWo + classic singlets), Rick Steiner (leopard), Scott Hall, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart (colors fixed), Mike Awesome (trunks now read "AWESOME" instead of "AWFUL"), Tiger Mask & co. - New skin tone (tanned), revised boots and body parts. MOVES - Atomic Leg Drop, Rude Awakening, Scott Steiner Elbow Drop ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. WHAT DEPENDS ON WHAT ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Costume number vs. costume content Every wrestler has 4 costumes (Attire 1-4). Most special rules look at the costume NUMBER, not at what is set inside it. For example, if you completely rebuild Misawa's costume 3, he still gets the Tiger Mask II theme. 3.2 Themes per attire A built-in table "wrestler + costume number -> theme". It takes priority over the theme set in Edit Mode. Hulk Hogan Attire 3 -> Hogan WCW, Attire 4 -> Hogan NJPW Sting Attire 1 -> Sting Crow Randy Savage Attire 2 + 3 -> Savage WCW Ric Flair Attire 1 + 2 -> Flair WCW K. Yamazaki Attire 2 -> Tiger Mask (IV) M. Misawa Attire 3 -> Tiger Mask II K. Kanemoto Attire 3 -> Tiger Mask III Consequences: - Changing the theme in Edit Mode has NO effect on these attires. - The other attires of these wrestlers use their normal theme. - The Tiger Mask call name is tied to the theme: only the three Tiger Mask attires above are announced as "Tiger Mask". - The DomeRoad light show works with all themes, including these. Tiger Mask's own theme (all attires) sits in the former "Triple Crown" slot of the theme list. 3.3 Upper Attire as entrance gear (Hase, Takayama, Omori, Ace, Barton) Costumes 1-3 have Entrance Attire "9" set. For THESE wrestlers, 9 means: "wear the Upper Attire from costume 4 during the entrance and take it off for the match". - Changing the Entrance Attire of costumes 1-3 -> the jacket/shirt is missing during the entrance. - Changing the Upper Attire of costume 4 -> also changes the entrance gear of costumes 1-3. - For all other wrestlers, Entrance 9 is simply the normal Entrance Attire A9. 3.4 Scott Steiner (nWo) and Scott Hall - Steiner nWo: the entrance hood is tied to the wrestler ID and appears with all costumes, regardless of the Entrance Attire setting. - Scott Hall: the entrance gear depends on the RING Attire (not on the costume number): Ring Attire A9 -> vest, A6 -> Outsiders shirt. Changing the Ring Attire = different or no entrance gear. 3.5 Capes with physics (Tiger Mask, Misawa, Kanemoto, Ultimo Dragon, Eddie) All these capes use the same two cape models. The physics are tied to exactly these models (modelled after Liger's cape). - Colors/textures of the capes can differ, the shape is the same for all of them. - Giving these clothing parts to other wrestlers or combining them with other Entrance Attires has not been tested. 3.6 Entrance Attire + shirts (Upper Attire) Several Entrance Attires were rebuilt for specific wrestlers (different models than in the original game, e.g. the Hayabusa robe B7 uses the coat shape of B5/B6). An Entrance Attire only replaces certain body parts - everything else stays visible. Therefore: - Shirt (Upper Attire) + entrance jacket can cause the shirt to show through or parts of the jacket to be missing. - Safe: Entrance Attire without a shirt, or a shirt without an Entrance Attire. Entrance Attire numbers only go up to 31 (the game cannot store more). 3.7 Masks Mask 20 (Vader) has its own head model and a round face. A different face shape/body size may look different with this mask than with normal masks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4. TECHNICAL INFO / FLASHCARTS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ROM size approx. 63.7 MB (fits within 64 MB). - Made for real hardware. SummerCart64: should work (save type SRAM 256 kbit, detected via the game ID - otherwise set it manually in the cart menu). - NTSC (60 Hz). Japanese and US consoles: no problem. PAL consoles (Europe): picture only with a 60 Hz capable TV or a modified console. - Old save files from other VPW2 versions may contain settings that mean something different here - it's best to start with a fresh save.
